The Nigeria Police Force on Sunday declared two men wanted in connection with the bomb blasts that rocked the Federal Capital Territory during the celebration of the nation’s 50th independence anniversary last Friday.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, gave their names as Chima Orlu and Ben Jessey. It described them as the ‘masterminds’ of the explosions that claimed 14 lives during the event.

The statement also said one person had been arrested in connection with the incident.

The statement said, “Police investigation has commenced in earnest. Forensic experts are already checking about 100 vehicles trapped in the vicinity of the blasts to ascertain the make, composition and origin of the explosives.

“As soon as the forensic examination is over, the vehicles will be released to their owners and the roads re-opened to normal traffic. The Nigeria Police regrets the inconveniences caused owners of those trapped vehicles and the users of those roads.”
