A MILITANT group in the Niger-Delta, the Deadly Underdog, weekend, gave conditions that the Federal Government most met before it would allow it to forge ahead with the proposed Escravos-Lagos gas pipeline project.

"Before, the government can think of doing or embarking on this project , they should first and foremost meet up to our demand because the project affects our land, both onshore and offshore", they said in an electronic mail sent to Vanguard and signed by its leader, Ezekiel.

According to the group, "There must be massive development of our land and provision of infrastructures like good pipe borne water, electricity, cottage hospital and good roads".

"The Escravos - Lagos gas line should pass through Escravos - Awoye, Opuama itsekelewu, Ogbudugbudu and Ogbinbiri , Delta State, Warri North or Escravos to Owoye, Ondo State, these are the costal communities, which this projected affected and they are oil bearing communities", it said.

"Why we want this project to be sited in these communities is that it will bring permanent peace, empowerment and development to the areas", the Deadly Underdog stated.
