ALAERA ALAIBE: NIGER-DELTA’S MOTHER THERSEA, SAYS IJAW GROUP

2008-11-18

The Ijaw Monitoring Group has described the late wife of the managing director of Niger Delta development Commission (NDDC), Mrs. Alaera Alaibe as the mother Theresa of Niger Delta. In a tribute signed by Comrade Joseph Evahon behalf of IMG, the group stated that the death of Mrs. Alaibe “has robbed the Niger Delta of our own Mother Theresa.”
According to IMG, “She was an Ijaw special gift to Niger Delta and Nigeria. Her death is the end of an era. We don’t know how to come out of this shock. Who will wipe away the tears of the hopeless widows and orphans in our region? How can we handle the blind, deaf, dumb and the cripple? How do we feed the lepers and cloths the homeless? This death is an unexpected New Year catastrophe in our region. Only God can give us the stamina to withstand its effect.”
The Ijaw lamented further” “Alaera Alaibe remained a reference point in the service to humanity till her death. The history of Niger Delta is incomplete without the name of Alaera as an icon of hope and pillar of community service. The shining star and disciple of education for the girl-child left us without a word.”
