IJAW SALUTE AGARY OVER NLNG PRIZE

2008-10-18

The Ijaw of Niger Delta have described the winner of this year’s Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Award in Literature, Miss Kaime Agary, as a role model and a promising star for the world renowned Nobel Prize in future.
In a congratulatory message signed on behalf of comrade Joseph Eva, coordinator of Ijaw Monitoring Group by Comrade Andrew Elijah, IMG stated that the prize won by Kaime Ahary from odi, Bayelsa state,, came at the right time to correct the wrong impression that Niger Delta youths are not focused and too lazy to actualize any dream.
According to the Ijaw group “we hope the way state will honour her the way the Osun State government honoured her counterpart who won the NLNG top prize for science. Agary would now serve as mirror to youths particularly the girl-child to be self-confident of true greatness.
“let us make it clear that Nigeria cannot win the war on guns and violence in our region but can take physical development and the creative ideas of kaime Agary to restore peace.”
The Ijaw group urged both federal and state governments in the Niger delta to “make education free at all levels in the regions to unravel many hidden talents wasting without trace.”
“The reason the Niger Delta governors refused to implement free education at all levels in the region remains mystery. I think these governors need spiritual deliverance.
These governors don’t know that what made Awolowo to be the greatest personality that shaped the Yoruba above other tribes in Africa was free education” while trying to cut and steal a power holding company of Nigeria, PHCN Ltd live overhead cable at the Uti Street Extension Sub-station at Effurun, Uvwie council area of Delta state.
The man simply identified as Eddy leaves at the Alaka area of Effurun from where he and other now at large went on the vandalism venture that took his life.
Vanguard gathered that the incident took place at about 2 am when after successfully removing the unit blocks in the feeder pillar decided to climb the electricity pole using a local ladder and in the process of cutting the cable they got bridged and he was electrocuted immediately.
His colleagues thereafter made away with the feeder pillar components and abandoned the lifeless body of Eddy and the makeshift ladder used in the operation.
The corpse of Eddy been deposited at the Ekpan general Hospital by the Ekpan police while some relations of the deceased are currently helping the police in their investigation.
The senior manager (pubic affairs), Warri business district of the PHCN Mr. Emmanuel Ibude, has therefore called on the general public, especially those living close to PHCN installations to be alert always and report any suspicious movement.
