The Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG) has alleged that their kinsman, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan was being marginalized in the day-to-day running of affairs by President Umaru Yar’ Adua.
In a statement signed by comrade Andrew Elijah, on behalf of the Co-ordinator of IMG, Comrade Joseph Evah, the group threatened to sue President Yar’ Adua for “undermining the office of the vice president.
The group alleged that its investigation had shown that president Yar’Adua always traveled abroad without handing over affairs to the Vice President.” This frequent constitutional breach and failure to abide by the rule of law by the president is a threat to democracy”, the group said.
The group disclosed that it had briefed its layer Mr. Femi Falana on the matter.
“We have confidence in Falana to stop this lawlessness. Falana defended ken Saro-Wiwa, he was the lawyer of comrade Evah when he challenged and stopped the dredging of the River Niger and today, he is defending our son Henry Okah. We have briefed him on the ugly development in Abuja” the IMG said, adding that the “undermining of the office of the president is part of the grand plan to humiliate the Niger Delta.”
