IMG MOBILIZES NIGER DELTANS TO DEMAND OKAH�S RELEASE

The Ijaw Monitoring Group IMG yesterday mobilized thousands of Niger Delta indigenes in Lagos to storm the first free Henry Okah world press conference in Lagos organized by human rights groups and civil societies led by coalition for freedom for Dokubo, Uwazuruke and Okah, COFDUO.

The Niger delta groups wearing special T-shirts designed with free Henry Okah, free Niger Delta emblems were conveyed in buses to the venue singing solidarity songs demanding the release of the Niger Delta activist.

In his speech, the coordinator of COFDUO, Comrade Ayodele Akala challenged the Federal Government to publish the names of the military officers alleged to have sold arms and ammunition to Okah�s group adding that government misled the Nigerian public and the world at large with the allegation. He insisted that Henry Okah�s trial in camera shows that he is innocent of the charges against him.

The Niger Delta groups led by Comrade Andrew Elijah, the chief of staff to Comrade Jospeh Evah, said to condition for peace in the Niger Delta is the unconditional release of Henry Okah. He faulted the attack on Agee community by soldiers demanding for compensation.

Others on the occasion included one of the lawyers defending Okah, Mr. Wilson Ajuwa, Mr. Henry Oyobolo, President Ijaw youth development association IYDA, Urhobo-Isoko youths and women leaders.
