Warri-Udu and Uvwie Local Government Areas in Delta State are currently at loggerheads over which council has the authority to collect revenue in Enerhen community.
The chairman of Udu council, Mr Henry Sakpra said recently at Otor-Udu the Enerhen belongs to Udu local government and warns officials from the neighboring Uvwie Local government council official to desist from collecting revenue from Enerhen to avoid another breakdown of law and order in the area.
According to him, though, the former administration of Chief James Onanefe Ibori, made a pronouncement directing the two local governments to stop taking revenue from the people of Enerhen when crisis erupted in the area over the issue, the Udu people were not happy with the directive of the government.
He said the Udu council complied with the directive, pointing out, “But to our surprise, the Uvwie council officials are still going there to collect revenue from the people. The obedience to government order does not mean we are lazy, rather we are only being law abiding”,
The chairman disclosed that the patience of the Udu people was running out and the youths were boiling to go there to collect revenue to develop the area, adding that the internal revenue generation of the area, which is basically a rural community with a touch of urbanization at Ekete Uwase and Alaja, was a zero level when he took over the mantle of leadership, but, there is a level of improvement now.
