Warri-the Tuku Evah Educational Foundation at the weekend in Warri, Delta State presented cash gifts to this year’s beneficiaries of the foundation scholarship scheme made of Ijaw students from various higher institutions across the country.

Presenting the cash gift to each of the beneficiaries, Comrade Andrew Elijah, Chief of Staff to Comrade Joseph Evah, coordinator, Ijaw Monitoring group charged the students to face their studies with passion in order to make their mark in society adding unemployment situation and poverty in the country “should not discourage them from excelling in their academic work because the condition of the country will not remain bad forever.”

“This scholarship programme through the Tuku Evah foundation is part of my boss’ contribution to uplift the consciousness of education in our society. He initiated it in memory of his late mother because of her love for education. Every year he provides cash for scholarship and provides books and writing materials for various schools in the Niger Delta. People come here and collect the materials for their schools but he was not able to provide books and writing materials because of expenses on his health and as we are talking now he is outside the country for medical check-up”, he explained.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Mr. Romanus Aye thanked the founder, Tuku Evah foundation, Comrade Evah for the gesture and wished him quick recovery, stressing that the yearly scholarship pains of poor students in various higher institutions.
